"Subluxation" is a term used to describe vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns, fail to function normally and interfere with the health and function of the nervous system. The term "adjustment" refers to a very specific movement/force applied to the subluxated vertebrae to reduce the subluxation. The spinal adjustment restores the alignment and mobility of the vertebrae and improves nervous system health and function.

The adjustment made by the chiropractor can be accomplished in many different ways. There are over 200 different chiropractic techniques used to restore the normal alignment and movement of the spinal vertebrae. Some techniques consists of a high velocity, short lever arm thrust applied to a vertebra by hand, which is often accompanied by an audible sound (release of gas or joint cavitation).

Other techniques use an adjusting instrument that to deliver a controlled impulse to realign the vertebra. Still other techniques are considered "tonal" techniques. These techniques are light touch techniques and work with the tone of the soft tissues to achieve realignment of the spinal structures. The technique I primarily use is Network Spinal Analysis which is a tonal technique. It is very effective and safe for people of all ages.
